Turfing and Planting

There is nothing more lovely than a well planted garden set off by a lush lawn. A good planting scheme does not have to mean high maintenance. We are able to choose trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals which are suited to the size of your garden and your soil as well as the aspect of the flower beds. There are numerous, easy-to-care-for plants which need very little attention. To help establish your new plants and turf we are able to install an irrigation system to handle the watering in the summer.

A New Lawn for Instant Transformation

The secret to a perfect new lawn is preparation. Our experienced team will:

  • Clear the area of any vegetation
  • Dig or rotovate the soil
  • Improve the soil by adding fresh topsoil if necessary
  • Level the area
  • Firm the soil
  • Add fertiliser
  • Rake and level again
  • Lay the turf

For most gardens we recommend a hard-wearing, all-round turf which will withstand children’s games and regular traffic. If your garden is particularly shady, there are specialist turfs to suit low light levels.

If you are looking to attract bees and butterflies into your garden and are looking for a more natural look for part of your lawn, there is wildflower turf. And for a shed roof, why not consider a drought-tolerant sedum lawn!

We can also supply and lay fine turf for a ‘bowling’ green finish.

Artificial grass

Artificial grass has come a long way in the past decade and now looks more realistic than ever. It can be a practical alternative to turf particularly in small spaces or in front gardens where mowing is impractical. Artificial grass is useful for children’s play areas as it does not suffer from drought, stays green in all weathers and, of course, need little maintenance.

There are many different types of artificial grass on the market and we are able to help you choose the best one for your project.

Plants for every season

With so many plants on the market, choosing the right plant for the right place can be overwhelming. We can select, source and plant the full spectrum of plants for your garden, from structural trees, hedging, evergreen and deciduous shrubs through to perennial flowering plants. Planting styles include:

  • Mediterranean planting with herbs, lavender, orange blossom, rock roses, and Portuguese laurel
  • Contemporary schemes with clipped box hedging in geometric shapes, grasses, and evergreen shrubs
  • Cottage garden planting with cranesbill, lady’s mantle, daisies, roses, and clematis
  • Shady planting with ferns, bell flowers, foxgloves, granny’s bonnet – to name just a few

Your garden will have all year-round interest with flowers and foliage of different colours and shapes to create the perfect outdoor space you will be proud to share with friends and family.

For a well-designed garden with the right combination of trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses with the right balance of deciduous and evergreen plants and all-year round colour, texture and leaf shape, we offer a planting design service.
